Independently Minded

There are two copyrights involved with every recorded musical work. The song copyright involved the composition of the song, and include royalty payments to the author/composer/publisher.

Neighboring rights get their name from the master recording copyright, which ?neighbors?the song copyright. Neighboring rights refer to the copyright protection of performers (musicians, vocalists) and owners of master recordings. Neighboring rights generate when recordings are used on radio, TV, or public venues.

These rights are fully separate and additional from the song copyright royalties covered by ASCAP, BMI, PRS/MCPS, SACEM, HFA, etc, and are paid by Collective Management Organizations (CMOs) in each country of origin.

Neighboring rights are less well-known than songwriting/publishing rights, and each territory treats legal eligibilities for collection slightly differently.

Our Services

With direct affiliations with the CMOs in every major territory, and prior experience as direct employees of CMOs, Rident is uniquely situated to handle your neighboring rights collections worldwide.

The world of music is ever growing and evolving, and we’re not just talking about sound trends. With the consistent introduction of varying revenue streams and distribution channels, the opportunity for profit grows, but so does the complexity. That’s where Rident Royalties comes in.

Depending on the performance rights organization, tracks need to be claimed within a specific timeframe, and retroactive collection expiry dates vary. We have familiarized ourselves with the policies to ensure we are collecting the full retroactive amount our clients are eligible for.

Collection societies work with tens of thousands of artists and labels, and unfortunately, overlapping claims and disputes are common. We actively track and resolve all potential disputes so that you can focus on what matters most: making great music.

Rident Royalties’ dedication to high quality work does not end once your royalties are received. Rident Royalties thoroughly analyzes every royalty statement received to ensure no tracks have fallen through the cracks, and that you are paid the maximum royalty amount you are owed.

Rident provides full original statements for every payment issued within 30 days of funds received. We also provide statements from the source of collection – there are no smoke and mirrors around where your money is coming from. In order to build trust and long-lasting relationships, transparency is paramount.
