for artists & Rights Owners

Helping you get back what you put in

You work hard to make great recordings.  Long days in the studio, long nights writing, and long months on the road.  When your recordings are streamed, they help put money in the broadcasters' pockets - it's only fair that you should be paid as well.  But when your recordings are streamed internationally, it can be difficult to identify what royalties you are owed, and how to collect them.  That's where Rident Royalties comes in.

Headquartered in Austin, TX, the live music capital of the US, Rident Royalties is a full service neighboring rights administration company with a mission to identify and recover royalty income owed to the creators of sound recordings.  Whether you’re a musician, comedian/spoken word artist, label, or independent rights owner, you are owed royalties if broadcasters across the globe are streaming your material. Rident brings extensive experience and professionalism to every case and customizes support to your individual needs and concerns.

Rident Royalties is on the pulse of modern streaming platforms, and has monitored their evolution to inform our royalty collection processes—all to give you exceptional service that will last for years to come.

Neighboring Rights

Driven by listening trends that continue to favor music access over music ownership, neighboring rights are currently one of the music industry's quickest-growing income streams.  Digital streaming royalties in the U.S, represents 16% of the entire recorded music industry's revenue.  In countries that guarantee additional royalty protection for terrestrial radio, the figures are similarly high.

Resulting neighboring rights royalty collections are continually increasing, and are predicted to rise for years to come.  Neighboring rights refer to the rights of the featured artists and rights owners on a recording to receive royalties when their recordings are used commercially.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

Not in any way.  The writers, artists, and labels keep all the rights they already have - nothing changes.  Rident Royalties simply collects royalties on behalf of the artist or rights owner as an agent.

AM I SIGNING AWAY THE RIGHTS TO ANY OF MY MATERIAL BY JOINING?

The royalties administered vary by country, and can be tailored to your needs.  In general, Rident Royalties is able to collect non-interactive digital streaming royalties in the US (Pandora, Sirius/XM, etc.), and neighboring rights royalties deriving from airplay outside of the US.

WHAT ROYALTIES DOES RIDENT ROYALTIES ADMINISTER?

50% of neighboring rights royalties are reserved for the artists' direct claiming.  This is considered a non-transferrable royalty, and cannot be collected by your label.  The other 50% of neighboring rights royalties are set aside for the labels' direct claiming.

I'M AN ARTIST.  ISN'T MY LABEL COVERING THIS FOR ME?

I HAVE BEEN CONTACTED BY RIDENT ROYALTIES.  WHY ME?

Absolutely!  There are tens of thousands of artists and rights owners who have yet to collect the royalties they have earned.  It is also possible that we have identified you as an artist and/or rights owner with uncollected royalties, and have not had the chance to reach out as of yet.

I HAVE NOT BEEN CONTACTED BY RIDENT ROYALTIES.  IS IT POSSIBLE THAT I HAVE ROYALTIES DUE TO ME?
